About This Site

The Essentials of Trading book by John FormanMy name is John Forman, and I am Rhody Trader. I’m the author of The Essentials of Trading and you can read all about me on the bio page. The Rhody Trader thing comes from the fact that I was born and raised in Rhode Island, “The Biggest Little State in the Union”, and that I trade. I’ve used that on forums like Trade2Win, BabyPips, and several others for a number of years, so it was natural to create this blog site with that name.

The question is “Why?”

To be honest, as an outlet and a way to connect with other trading bloggers.

You see, as much as I love trading education (which is the focus of www.TheEssentialsOfTrading.com), it’s not all that I think about in terms of trading. I have long found that writing is a great way for me to not only express my thoughts, but to really solidify them. This blog lets me share my own trading, my thoughts on the markets, and stuff on some other related topics as well. As such, it will give folks a chance to know me better than they can through my educational writings.

In terms of my fellow bloggers, I am frequently inspired to thought by them. I really like Brett Steenbarger’s idea of cross-blog talk. It’s so much better than just making comments. The problem to this point has been that unless the subject matter of the other blog was somehow related to trading education, I never really had recourse to do that cross talk. With this new blog, I do.

Also, this blog will serve as a very public trading journal of sorts.
