Back on the Gold Standard Within a Year?

I accepted a gentlemen’s bet with a colleague this morning. He thinks we’ll be back on the gold standard within a year. I don’t think there’s any way we could generate the political will and ability to do so during an election year and in the aftermath of it. No way.
The funny thing is this guy actually first threw out three years, but thought it was such a lock in that timeframe that it would be a fair bet.
