Looking for Forex Analyst Help
A member of the forex analyst team I’m part of was injured in rather serious fashion last week. It’s bad enough that my employer – the IFR Markets group of Thomson Reuters – is looking to fill his position on at least a temporary basis. The proposal has been put forth to hire someone on a three month contract basis, though there is a chance that it could become something permanent, depending on how things fall out.
Basically, we need someone who can step right in without much ramp up time. The following are some of the credentials involved:
- Good writing skills
- Several years market experience
- Understanding of how short-term events impact price action
- Market contacts to pick up flow information
- Ability to work on a real-time basis
- Located in either the NYC or Boston area
While we don’t expect to be able to find a person with decades of experience as we’re losing, we definitely want someone with experience who understands the forex market well and can communicate what’s happening and what the future may bring to our primarily institutional readership.
If you or someone you know might fit the bill, please contact me at john.forman at thomsonreuters.com.

John,
Since it is currently only a temporary contract, would they entertain me working from NZ?

duc – I think they want someone in-office, so to speak, but if the fit is right they might be willing to do a remote thing. I’d ask about how you’d cover the timezone, but you do seem to keep a US set of hours.
John,
I trade the US live, so I work [currently] to US Eastern time. Sure I realize the office thing might be a problem, but I fulfill your other criteria [well I think so!] I can do economic macro-Fx for you chaps, in addition to short-term stuff.
As it’s only a 3 month temp position, I thought remote might be viable – anyway let me know if they want a CV or anything along those lines.

John,
Of course as a supportive argument for being based in NZ, I could be up and running by the end of the week & being in a different timezone, for FX markets this might be a bonus.

Duc – We have analysts around the world for 24-hour coverage, so there’s really no issue with timezones or anything like that. From what I’m being told they do want someone physically in the office. A large part of the reason for that is the cross-market dynamic with folks from the rates desk. We are constantly talking back and forth about things – at least we are in Boston anyway.
Having said all that, I do believe our folks in Asia sometimes need contractor help. If you’d like I could put you in touch with them. Maybe they could use you from time to time.
John,
Ok, fair enough.
Yes, with regards to the Asia desk, that would be great.

John,
I sent you an email earlier today with some basic info about myself.
Let me know if you received it and if you think there’s a fit.
Best wishes – Clemens
Clemens – I got your email and mailed you back. I got a response saying there was some kind of problem with your system picking up the response, but not an actual bounce.
John, I stumbled across your site as I was searching for new and interesting forex strategies, I have made enough money in forex to never worry again about finances, so the prospect of a “Job” doesn’t interest me but I would love to contribute articles, research analysis or market insight. I am buying a home in Larchmony NY, so about a 35 min commmute to NYC. I had lived in NY for 20 years before settling in NC after college. The big apple has been calling me for years and my yearn to get back into life in the big city has now won out. So please feel free to email me and I have greatly enjoyed your site, thoughtful well written articles and insight that I rarely see………………Best Regards Ray
